Artist Puts Her Art In Heart

Christine Nalina Das, 45, is a Subang Jaya based artist who has dedicated her impressive talents to expressing her love for the abundant beauty of nature.

During a recent interview with frigglive, the Penang lass who trained at the Sain Academy of Arts, confessed that nature has a very special place in her heart and that she is also inspired by the majestic grandeur of stained glass.

In fact, Christine creates a similar effect in her pieces by using strong lines, bold strokes, interwoven shapes and warm colors to express her interpretation of nature. Many of her works focus on trees which she says are a symbol of life.

“Nature grabbed my attention as a child and it has completely mesmerized me. It’s as mysterious as life itself and I love being immersed in it. Mother Nature gives us so much wisdom and insight - she is both my teacher and my muse. I connect with nature deep in my soul. All life exists to nourish, support and sustain each other and we should also do our little bit to protect Mother Earth.”

When it comes to being sensitive to eco-environmentalism, Christine walks the talk, and collaborated with Imprint Service Sdn Bhd, an eco-friendly printer, to have all her art pieces printed with soy-based ink on recycled paper.

“I did that to instill a greater appreciation for life and nature to those viewing my pieces. I strongly feel that we are draining too much of our natural resources and we all have a collective responsibility to do our part in protecting nature. As an artist and nature-lover, I take it upon myself to remind people of the utmost importance of preserving our nature,”

Again, she is not just blowing hot air but has actively adopted on an eco-friendly lifestyle in her own home by making sure she recycles and goes organic as much as possible.

During her exhibition, watch out for a silent auction of her artwork entitled ‘Flock Together’, the entire proceeds of which will go to pro life organization The Human Life Service Centre in Miri, Sarawak.

Also on display will be 25 of her stylized paintings, mostly in the medium of acrylic on canvas.
